Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"Very charming little cafe on top of a hill. It is a very attractive place indeed, tasteful and minimalist decor, with big windows overlooking the surroundings. The staff are very nice as well. You order at the counter and pay in advance. There was only 1 menu available for some strange reason... so people were kinda like standing around the counter waiting for the 1 menu to order. It would be more efficient to have several menus people could browse while waiting to order. I ordered a Matcha Yuzu, and an open-faced smoked duck sandwich. The matcha yuzu is good, I like that it was really not sweet. However the duck sandwich can be improved on. The salad is great. But the duck breast was not seared enough, so the fat is not rendered properly, causing it to taste quite gummy, chewy and rubbery. Not a good texture at all. The bread as well was chewy and tough. It was even hard to cut with the knife, so I resorted to just eating it with my hands. I wouldnt say it was a cheap meal, so I sincerely do hope that some improvements can be made."
"Nestled within the scenic Taman Ekoflora in Johor Bahru, Soil Cafe beckoned as a must-visit destination on our cycling adventure from Singapore. Could this charming cafe truly live up to its highly acclaimed reputation on social media? Eager to discover its allure, I included Soil Cafe on our itinerary, enticed by its renowned pastries and Instagram worthy ambiance. Situated within the Eco gardens, the cafe is surrounded by picturesque structures, providing ample opportunities for capturing stunning photographs. While the pastries were a highlight, the drinks were not too bad, but they were nice."
"Went with a small group for a late lunch. Not very but very nice place. Food was good quality but we only had salad so not sure about the other dishes. They were very nice to allow us to bring in a cake from outside to celebrate birthdays, they even played the birthday song for our introduction! Nice place!"
"ig: @lifetogether97 ——————————————— Saw this on tiktok so many times but it’s really quite overhyped the only thing nice were the aesthetics of the place i guess, the food was pretty mid (albeit decently priced) and the cookie tasted like it was made from actual SOIL we were really disappointed. hope the food quality would continue to improve! ——————————————— Tamago sando RM22 Anti-veg big breakfast RM35 Open sandwich- smoked duck RM30 Kouign amann RM10 Brownies cookie RM14 Iced white latte RM14 Iced mocha RM15"
"We dropped by around 5 pm, but most of their food was sold out. With a limited menu, I opted for their Big Breakfast, a few drinks, and a cheesecake. Food was fine, but nothing spectacular. Maybe we'll come back another time to try more of their dishes."
"Standard, but felt overprice. Macha latte with hojicha taste. But this is the best place to chill, and 打卡"
"Located opposite of Eco Palladium and along Eco Flora. They are a Cafe that is on a hill where it is easy to spot. There is a garden around them and gives off a European vibe. Soil Cafe is a great place to chill and relax while having your morning coffee or afternoon tea. You can choose to either sit in their indoor air conditioned area or their outdoor patio. They have quite a big grass patch as their outdoor patio and you can bring your pets to enjoy it. Their menu is not extensive but sufficient with quite a number of choices. Something will definitely appeal to you with their European food, artisanal coffee and unique tea selections. Definitely drop by when you're around the area to give them a try to experience them for yourselves."
"Nice quaint cafe in the Eco Spring area. The food is delicious and generous in serving. Definitely recommended!"
